CONSENT AGENDA
The Duncanville City Council approved the annual procurement of water and sewer maintenance parts through a City of Grapevine Cooperative in the amount of $84,000.
Why I support this initiative
Local Government Code Section 271.102 provides that cities can participate in cooperative purchasing programs with another local government, satisfying state law requiring competitive bids. Increased activity in the repair and replacement of our water and sewer infrastructure (given the advanced age of many Duncanville neighborhoods) has led to the need in more supplies and the timely delivery of them. The purchase is within budgeted funds available.
The Duncanville City Council approved the procurement of sanitary sewer system manhole rehabilitation services with Insituform Technologies, Inc. through the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative in the amount of $65,000.
Why I support this initiative
Local Government Code Section 271.102 provides that cities can participate in cooperative purchasing programs with another local government, satisfying state law requiring competitive bids. Wastewater manholes suffer from a variety of problems ranging from minor infiltration to major failure as they age. These problems ultimately lead to increased sewer Treatment costs to Trinity River Authority. We are demonstrating good stewardship of the community’s resources through timely maintenance. This purchase is within budgeted funds available.
The Duncanville City Council approved the procurement of traffic management vehicle detection cameras with Paradigm Traffic Systems, Inc. through the Local Government Purchasing Cooperative in the amount of $113,760.
Why I support this initiative
Local Government Code Section 271.102 provides that cities can participate in cooperative purchasing programs with another local government, satisfying state law requiring competitive bids. During the development of the FY 2015 Budget, City Council allocated $134,560 for the purchase of 32 traffic system vehicle detection cameras. The City of Duncanville’s Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is an automated traffic management system that utilizes fiber optics and radio wave communication devices integrated with vehicle detection cameras and software to time traffic signals to effectively and efficiently move traffic through Duncanville streets. These cameras are for detection of presence only and do not record.
